I've just recently been seeing commercials for the bracelet/watches. They sound like a good safety precaution to me.

I suppose they CAN be, but I see a lot of parents online mis-using them. I also think it’s good to teach kids to check-in with parents, rather than relying on tracking and hyper-surveillance.
