Mis-read or Mis-represented? - Mood:Confused

I could never understand people, and to this day I'm still struggling to understand them. I hate feeling like the middle man. Here's the situation, two friends of mine are basically at throats with one another. One doesn't want the other to "flirt" with people she just meets. She went on and on about there being "codes" or "rules" when it comes to friendships. To me it seems like she's way too competitive, maybe it's just because I don't see things the same way she does. But anyway, both have given me their sides to the story.. and obviously they both don't jive. I don't know what to do. I don't want to take sides or anything. Any advice?
