Anyway, it's pretty obvious what he's doing. It's a Nixon trick (older than that, but Nixon is the best contemporary example).
Discredit the people reporting bad things about you, rather than rebut the things they're actually writing (usually because you can't, because they're actually true). Erode faith in the fourth estate to the greatest extent possible. The next step is direct or indirect threats to reporters' lives and safety.

It's fascinating to read modern pieces by reporters like Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward. Every president hates the press to some extent, but the parallels between what Nixon did and what Trump is doing are crazy.
(The fact that Roger Stone was heavily involved in the Trump campaign is definitely part of this.)

is there an entire list of outlets trump has called fake news? i know they all push a narrative, but i doubt they would deliberately make something up with no factual backing.

I wasn't aware Trump called everything fake news. When he referred to CNN as fake news he was rather accurate.

CNN has already had to retract at least one story that they admitted was just a lie to boost ratings.

I think it's accurate to call most news sources 'fake news' or at least call them crap. Even the ones that broadcast 'truth' only do a portion of it in order to make you lean the way they want you to.

I'm not saying I'm for Trump, this just isn't one of the things I care so much about him doing.

Who's drumpth? And honestly alot of UNITED STATES media is pretty fake news. You have to look at media from multiple countries and sources to even get close to truth. Some content yeah it dont matter other content though you really have to investigate

I think it's a great mantra for people who think the POTUS should be their only source of information.
