Here in the US, unless you're stone deaf, you can't help it. His recording of "White Christmas" Is guaranteed to play somewhere within earshot at least five times between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Hearing a song that he performed isn't really the same as having heard of him. I've heard lots of songs and couldn't tell you who sang them, much less anything about the singers...
