I've only lived in this city for one year but at Christmas I'd hope to see a couple of friends that I've known for over 20 years.

Yes. I've known four of my closest friends since I was 3. It's weird to think I've known them longer than my sister who just turned 17!
I'm also still friends with a lot of people I went to primary school with.

Yes, a few. Some of them I only talk with on Facebook anymore. One of my best friends I still see once every week or two, I've known since 6th grade.
Sadly there was another I thought would be listed here that has avoided me for no valid reason.

Yes and no.
When I moved as a child/teenager I lost contact to most former friends over the years. I'm still (in one case 'again') in contact with one or two but that's not really what I'd call 'remain close friends'.
From ther close friends I have there are 2 or 3 that have been cliose friends for the last 25 years or so. So they classify as close and have been that for over half of my life but not in a 'since kindergarten' way.

My current longest friendship has been going since I was 19...until now (I'm 25) but we're in serious risk of drifting apart now.
The longest friendship before that one happened from 4 to 12. We never went to the same elementary school but we were best friends. What's odd is that we drifted apart when we actually started going to the same school. But she changed a lot in middle school and it just wasn't like childhood anymore. We drifted apart.
Most of my friendships only last a year or two.
