My mum always used to put decorations (and tree) up 12 days before christmas and take them down 12 days after christmas.

My mom don't put up our tree until two weeks before Christmas and we take it down either Christimas day or the day after.

We usually put up the tree like 2-3 weeks before Christmas. That's like all we do, as far as decorating is concerned.

I don't decorate for Christmas (I live alone, and get no real pleasure from decorating)
When I lived with my parents we put our decorations up on the first weekend in December, and took them down on Boxing Day.

Ugh. The day after Thanksgiving. A tradition that began when my girls were little & their dad & I were disgustingly syrupy with idealism. Happily divorced now & fully rooted in reality.
But the girls love it, even tho they're 16 & 18 now, so I do it. But I refuse to do it forever. It's way too much hassle & I'm an ex- - christian now so it's basically for their enjoyment. If I never saw another xmas ornament, it wouldn't be soon enough.

i,d put it up A.S.A.P if i had it my way!!! but its usually 2 weeks before christmas,, it defo has to be down before the 6th or 7th of jan or its bad luck!!!

Traditionally we put the tree and decorations up the day after Thanksgiving. But it didn't work out this way this year. Plus, we do Black Friday shopping so we usually sleep the majority of the day after Thanksgiving now.
So I think from now on we will wait 12 days out from Christmas and then take it down 12 days after. According to my friend, taking it down before 12 days after is bad luck.

I do on or after december first, depending on when I have free time.
This year cause december 1st is a sunday I'll do it all then. I'm kinda tempted to starting doing my outdoor lights now and not turning them on til the first just so its done
