Salads are not very filling otherwise due to the lack of protein.

You could add eggs, tofu, nuts, chick peas, any number of non-meat things to get protein. I usually eat salads without meat.

Eggs and cashews are okay on salads, but their protein content is not comparable to that of some grilled chicken or shrimp.

The only meat I like is fish, which I would never put on a salad.

If the salad is a meal yes. As a regular side salad type of thing it would be a little too filling with meat.

Actually, you might be surprised by how much protein there is in cashews and almonds compared to chicken and other meats.

According to this website, 100 g of cashews has 20g of protein, and 100g of grilled chicken breast has 28g. But if its breaded and fried, it will have less than 20g per 100g.
