My mind is usually in the gutter and I totally read that as "I Love Tofu".
It took me a minute to figure out what else it could be.

Same here. I had to read it about 5 times to see it.
I think it's fine. Let her have it.

I'd let her have the plates.
If there were a way to add a space between the 'V' and the 'T', it might make it more difficult to interpret it incorrectly...

7 characters is usually the max on North American plates.

I have been watching this the last couple days. Yes some of the things that can not be used are silly. However it is not like she could find something else to use. When I first say it TOFU was not what I thought.
Tonight is the first night they didn't say anything about it. Someone just wants to complain. She could easily think up something else.

The first time I heard about sumbliminal plates was about 30 years go when someone in Sanfrancisco managed to get 1AM1RU2 past the gaydar.
The poblem with ILVTOFU isit could be used for solicitation and America is way to uptight to allow that to happen.

Yeah, I didn't read tofu the first time I read that. I think my mind is in the gutter.
There are plenty of things that can't be on a license plate. Unfortunate for this woman but honestly, I approve. There are plenty of things not allowed on license plates that are innocent but have alternate meanings. In some places it is illegal to have "88" on a license plate, because of an association with Nazism. Now I'm sure Betty Jones who graduated in 1988 isn't a Nazi even if she wants her plate to say JHS88 or something and I'm sure this woman really likes her tofu but the restrictions are there for a reason.

I can easily read it as "I love tofu", and I'm sure most people can too.
If the state of Colorado is so upset about it, they should change it to "TOFULVR". Same message and it'd have a less chance of being misread.

Heh.
Sure, why not. As if there aren't plenty of other explicit license plates that squeezed their way past inspection.

My guess is that TOFULVR (and TOFULV) are already taken.
