And when I say smoke, I really mean "smoke," seeing as there's no actual fire or smoke or matches involved. A recent story in The Wall Street Journal outlined the quasi-disturbing process:

1. Kids smash up a pack of Smarties still in the plastic wrapper.

2. They inhale the powder through the mouth.

3. They blow the resulting smoke out of their mouths, mimicking a smoker's exhale.

Yikes? Some truly brilliant kids - just to traumatize every adult in their lives as much as possible - have even tried snorting the dust. So, in addition to giving kids a head start on the not-so-subtle mannerisms of addiction, what are the dangers of this behavior?

Do you think kids who smoke and/or snort Smarties have a higher than normal chance of growing up to use substances?

I never heard of kids smoking them before. That just makes me laugh. I remember as a kid daring people to snort pixy stix.

Actually, I snorted Smarties yesterday and my sister smoked them...

Then we smoked pretzels and Twizzlers.

I will never ever smoke anything. Ever. Not even cigarettes.

I don't know about a higher probability of drug use, but I would imagine there is a higher probability of stupidity.

If kids really think that's cool, that's pretty depressing.

I think there's a greater chance of future drug abuse of anyone who imitates drug use as a kid, because they obviously think it's cool enough to emulate.

Yes because the more they practice sniffing stuff like that there is a more common chance that the more you enjoy doing that the more you will be addicted to drugs in my opinion.

Yeah sure, and if young boys eat bananas then they're surely going to be gay when they grow up.

This is just ridiculous experimentation. Hell, me and my mates snorted curry powder about a month back, just for kicks.
I think kids'll know the difference between lumps of coloured sherbert and mysterious white powder that you can't buy at the sweet shop.

And over here, smarties are chocolates.
