No. If you know anything about history, you will know that Mexico is the only country in Latin America that the US has not tried to overthrow, since for 71 years up until 2000, they managed to be both a socialist dictatorship and a puppet of the US. The drug cartels are highly organized and highly violent, and they threaten public safety, but they do not threaten the sovereignty of either the US or Mexico. Mexico does have some insurgent groups, most notably the Zapatistas in Chiapas, but the drug cartels are mainly fighting amongst themselves and do not appear to have larger political aims.

I doubt it. They're just giving them some help in fighting the drug cartels, which are really like a second army. The violence happeniing there is too close for comfort.

Normally we don't have anything against Mexico, except for their citizens coming here illegally. But when their gang wars that the government and police cannot/will not control is spilling over our border so we have to do something about that now.

Mexico might not be the next Iraq of Afghanistan but it sure is pretty darn close with all of the psychos over there so I think it might be.

I agree with Lushus. I thought it was informative. I didn't know Mexico was socialist in the 20th century.

i don't think the drug cartels have the support of the people, they're into dealing illegal drugs which everyone pretty much frowns upon.

as for the middle east, these people want to push sharia law onto people which more people are willing to back.
