drugs are horible how could someone even try taking them
13 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 3/26/09 - 1:25:09 PM EST (GMT-5)
It might be worth doing- - if people have enough money to buy drugs, then perhaps they don't need to be collecting welfare...

I don't know if it would really be worth the trouble and expense to actually do it though...
13 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 3/26/09 - 1:27:50 PM EST (GMT-5)
That sounds expensive.
13 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 3/26/09 - 1:59:05 PM EST (GMT-5)
Well if it's random, it may not cost too much. I imagine they'd only test people that they suspected of drug use, or if they got a tip from someone or something. There's no way they could pay for drug tests for ALL of them.
13 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 3/26/09 - 2:04:50 PM EST (GMT-5)
I think that at home drug tests can be pretty cheap. If the government was selective about testing, I think it could be a good idea.
13 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 3/26/09 - 2:23:30 PM EST (GMT-5)
I think it would prove to be pretty damn pricey.
13 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 3/26/09 - 2:25:43 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, everyone should should go on welfare because Obama's a socialist, everyone is equal and should receive equal welfare and the state should look after everyone.

You're kidding?

That implies that if they fail, they don't get food or shelter.

But the people in that situation aren't able to just quit. They need something other than a fascist dictum that they need to quit or they'll be made to starve.

What sort of idiot actually supports this?

It doesn't necessarily mean that they'll be stop receiving benefits.

There could be requirements that people who test positive should have to fulfill. And why shouldn't there be?
13 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 3/26/09 - 3:08:49 PM EST (GMT-5)
Absoloutely. We can't have a bunch of addicts conning the government for their next fix.

Perhaps one of the government benefits should be a drug rehab program. It seems fair to allow people to continue to receive benefits if they go to rehab and quit drugs, and end benefits if they do not...

Sure would save some money. Seeing as so many are crack heads. I have seen people use there food stamp cards to buy things I know are not for food for the kids.

We should let drug addicts self-destruct, f*ck 'em. Natural selection in action.

If they are on drugs and want money for help they can kick the habbit first. With addicts, the government gives them some money to help them function and they screw that oppurtunity up by getting trashed.

If a person has the means to gain drugs (illegal or non-medical) whilst on welfare, then how do they not have the means to pay for their own food...

A drug test costs $120 or more. For one person. Only includes two or three street drugs like pot and cocaine etc. Shouldnt you just give the poor people the money instead, if you are going to drug test them then why not give them job placement and training and build houses for them to live in too? Can they think of more ways to waste our money?

What good is job training/placement if their drug use is going to get them fired?

Is it really a waste of money if we can get more people out of their drug addictions and help them become productive members of society?

Sounds about right. I'm all for personal responsibility. But, if we really want to go through with this, then we should legalize drugs.
