yeah. i feel like i'm wasting my life and it's passing by me.

i wish i could stop time.
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Monday 3/9/09 - 12:13:39 AM EST (GMT-5)
not especially. a lot of the drawbacks associated with aging can be slowed down considerably or even prevented. plus, my bones for years have felt like an old person's, so I'm pretty much used to it.

one thing that I'm a little fearful of is balding. I'm not certain how the genes and such work for that, but I might be in trouble.
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Monday 3/9/09 - 12:35:32 AM EST (GMT-5)
yes i havent experienced something
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Monday 3/9/09 - 2:08:32 AM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah. Just the thought of knowing your going to die is scary.
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Monday 3/9/09 - 2:24:30 AM EST (GMT-5)
I'm not really scared of getting old and I think as long as I know I'm living my life the best I can I never will be scared of that.
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Monday 3/9/09 - 2:26:08 AM EST (GMT-5)
I fear invalidity and dependance.

As a matter of fact, it's not fear, at the juncture where I'll feel like a burden, I'll probably chose to go.
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Monday 3/9/09 - 8:44:40 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, that's rediculous. Aging is the one thing you can count on happening. It's inevitable.
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Monday 3/9/09 - 8:49:21 PM EST (GMT-5)
^^^ Which doesn't mean you may not fear it.

I'm 53 years old, and getting older.

I fear losing my ability to move, to think, to take care of myself.

I fear ending up in a nursing home.

I fear becoming a burden on my children.

Like le_burger, I will probably take myself out when I get to that point. If I'm still physically capable of doing so.
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Tuesday 3/10/09 - 11:06:17 AM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Tuesday 3/10/09 - 3:53:39 PM EST (GMT-5)
I fear reverting back to infantile characteristics more than I fear age itself.
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Tuesday 3/10/09 - 3:56:14 PM EST (GMT-5)
I fear death more than aging.
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Tuesday 3/10/09 - 6:33:31 PM EST (GMT-5)
Definitely, now not like 20 years older than I am now but like past my like 40s and stuff yep. Just the other day I was looking in the mirror and I was like.. could I picture myself old and thank God I couldn't.. haha.
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Wednesday 3/11/09 - 2:19:14 PM EST (GMT-5)
I don't fear getting older, I fear some of the things that happen to people during the aging process.
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Wednesday 3/11/09 - 2:20:58 PM EST (GMT-5)
I never did until I began working at an old people's home. I've seen people's health and mental state deteriorate so quickly I really hope Amrageddon happens before I get that old.
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Thursday 3/12/09 - 2:56:55 PM EST (GMT-5)
why fear it, there is nothing you can do about it. I fear becoming dependent on others i would want to be snuffed out first.

I just don't get how you can fear something that WILL happen. Every second you live you're getting older.

Yes. I don't want to grow up. I don't want my body to change. I don't want more responsibility. I fear everything about it.
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Thursday 3/12/09 - 5:04:57 PM EST (GMT-5)
I AM kinda old (compared to most YTers). Trust me, it's not as bad as some people would have you believe.

The bad thing is that you have to hurry up, because you realize you aren't gonna live forever, contrary to what you thought when you was 21...

The good thing is that you have a lot of memories, and you have learned lotsa stuff over the years, and you can start your sentences with "When I was your age..."

Of course you can fear something that WILL happen.

When I was pregnant, I was scared to death of labor and delivery - even though it was something that was going to happen - no way out of it - I was pregnant. And I gave birth.

And I was scared of labor and delivery when I was pregnant with my second child. And I gave birth again.

Just because it's going to happen, it doesn't mean it can't scare you.

I turned 36 a few days ago and was absolutely devastated and depressed. I still kinda am.
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Friday 3/13/09 - 3:28:42 AM EST (GMT-5)
hehe, cszulins, tell me again in a ten years time that you're worried, and maybe, just maybe, I'll listen. In the meantime, sit back and enjoy the ride. When you're in your forties you'll be at your peak, physically and mentally.
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Friday 3/13/09 - 3:57:29 AM EST (GMT-5)
I fear getting old and not having anything to show for it. If I get old, but feel like I've taken a bite out of life and have loads of kick-ass experiences to reminisce about, it's all good.

That's the attitude! *claps hands*
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Friday 3/13/09 - 1:03:04 PM EST (GMT-5)
^^^ It's harder to have that attitude as I watch my aunt dying of Alzheimer's Disease (that's the second one to have it) and wait to see if my mother (the other two aunt's sister) gets it.

And to see if I get it.
13 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Friday 3/13/09 - 1:08:38 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'm not looking forward to it, but I don't fear it. If it gets too bad, I'll just kill myself.
