This one’s kinda hard to swallow so take a deep breath, open your minds, and pretend it’s 2100. I CONTACT is essentially a mouse fitted to your eyeball. The lens is inserted like any other normal contact lens except it’s laced with sensors to track eye movement, relaying that position to a receiver connected to your computer. Theoretically that should give you full control over a mouse cursor. I’d imagine holding a blink correlates to mouse clicks. The idea was originally created for people with disabilities but anyone could use it. Those of us too lazy to use a mouse now have a free hand to do whatever it is people do when they sit at the computer for endless hours.

Would you wear a contact lens that would act like a mouse for your computer?

13 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Saturday 1/24/09 - 11:12:31 AM EST (GMT-5)

13 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Saturday 1/24/09 - 11:29:53 AM EST (GMT-5)
I saw that yesterday...

I don't think I would, it would take too much effort to not look at something that I didn't necessarily want to click on and not blink.
13 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Saturday 1/24/09 - 4:43:56 PM EST (GMT-5)

All the eye movement would give me such a headache. I'll pass.
13 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Sunday 1/25/09 - 2:29:20 AM EST (GMT-5)
Nope. With my luck, I'd blink on accident and click something.

I don't think you'd end up moving your eyes any more than usual, but I can't imagine anything more annoying. This is why society is getting lazier... geeks are getting too smart for our good.
13 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Sunday 1/25/09 - 12:40:06 PM EST (GMT-5)
I probably wouldn't be able to control it.
13 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Sunday 1/25/09 - 11:24:00 PM EST (GMT-5)
No...not all the time, I'd only play with it so I could feel like a total badass cyborg...then I'd go back to my mouse...
13 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Saturday 4/25/09 - 5:59:16 PM EST (GMT-5)
Uhh, you blink and click something? So how do you go for a while without blinking?

But otherwise, awesome idea.
12 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Monday 7/6/09 - 2:47:24 PM EST (GMT-5)

Yeah, on ads probably. Other than that it sounds pretty cool.
12 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Monday 7/6/09 - 4:44:43 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'll wait til I'm disabled
12 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Monday 7/6/09 - 5:03:31 PM EST (GMT-5)
I think I'd find it too hard to control. I'd stick with my regular mouse.
9 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Wednesday 12/19/12 - 11:29:29 PM EST (GMT-5)
Sounds like something that would never work how you want it to. My eyes probably scan a lot more of the screen than just where I move my mouse, and how would it know if I want to click or if I was just blinking?

Also, what about when I'm reading articles or big walls o' text on YT? Is the cursor going to follow my eyes and get in the way of the text?
9 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Wednesday 12/19/12 - 11:36:24 PM EST (GMT-5)
They could have it so that when you close your eye, a sound builds up to let you confirm. Like hovering to select things with motion sensor-controlled things.
4 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Thursday 10/12/17 - 6:59:01 PM EST (GMT-5)
So, has anyone here tried this yet?
Or........?
