I'm guessing that socialism occurs more among those in the Socialist party than those in either the Republican or Democrat. Otherwise they'd be Socialists, not Republicans or Democrats.

As Aldod said. Socialism, as an ideology, has never been implemented in the US. People throw around the word "socialism" as an epithet for whatever they don't like, and don't really know what it means. While things like Social Security, Medicare are socialist in origin, social programs and universal health care do not equal socialism. Central economic planning, and government setting prices for goods equals socialism, and as far as I am aware, the Obama Administration opposes those things as much as anyone else.
