Have you ever - directly or indirectly - called someone out for blatant, illogical bigotry?
I once absolutely flamed at a lady at my register when I worked retail, because I'd caught her lecturing her son vehemently about how bad, evil, and hell-bound people who read a novelty book for the gay and lesbian market were. Seriously, just for reading it. Religious beliefs are one thing, but this lady was promoting active hatred - this woman was ranting about how gay people should be"dealt with." I don't normally flame, but the look on this lady's face was priceless.
Geez. Regardless of what you believe is wrong or right, you need to be tasteful. I believe that a "gay" person is still a person. I do not agree with the choice, but it's not truly my business.

Mhm. Every day for a week before election day, groups of bigots would gather on street corners and wave signs saying "Yes on Prop 8" and "Honk for Prop 8."
I was stopped at a red light right next to one of these crowds, so I rolled down the window, stuck them the finger, and yelled "f#cking bigots!"
They definitely heard. They also had small children present, but I didn't care. Better they hear me say that than let their parents brainwash them into thinking it's ok to be hateful.
i have several relatives on my mom's side who grew up in a strict catholic household. as in daily mass and confession, that kind of strict. they say a lot of antiquated things about gay people.
like the arguments that gays touch kids and are trying to make kids gay. i try to remind them that those things aren't true, every time they bring it up. i love them and they're good people, but i wish they'd update their views on gays.
