"Videos with sexually suggestive (but not prohibited) content will be age-restricted, which means they'll be available only to viewers who are 18 or older," the Google-owned website said.

YouTube said videos which contain sexually suggestive content or profanity would no longer appear on its lists of "Most Viewed" or "Top Favourited" videos. The internet's top video-sharing site also said it would step up enforcement of rules banning misleading descriptions in the tags and titles of a video...

No. People should take responsibility for the videos they watch and not blame youtube. Young children should be supervised by their parents when they go on the internet

Absolutely. I'm tired of hearing about people blaming websites for their material.

I believe in freedom of expression. People should be able to put whatever the hell they want on youtube. The watchers are responsible for what they watch. And if that's young kids, it's the parents responsibility.

Why is sexuality demonized?

They should do that about violence.

Yes, and no...Eh...I guess in the long run it's a good thing, but it's going to be annoying for lots of people at first.

It all depends. I almost watched a video about a kid who scares his parents during their "special" time

I don't care much, seeing as I can view eighteen-plus videos, but I don't think it's necessary. As mentioned, if children are getting a hold of the links to bad videos or whatever, it's not YouTube's fault.

Agreed. Sure, YouTube does allow it, but people shouldn't blame them because it's really their own fault

Since when is censorship good?
13 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Sunday 12/7/08 - 3:48:08 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yes, it is a very good thing. I know little elementary school kids who are on youtube all the time. I don't want them to see those things or to think they are OK. They aren't.
13 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Sunday 12/7/08 - 6:11:46 PM EST (GMT-5)

I'm not usually one for censorship, but I think in this case, it is a good idea.

If you want to see that stuff, fine. That's great. But when it shows up on the side of the screen when you're at school or something, that's a little awkward.

And I don't believe this is promoting the deomonization of sexuality, it's the explicit sort, really. It's the stuff that a lot of people would consider cinema for adult viewing.. It's the intent of those speficic videos.

And like redroses said, for the little kids who like looking at funny animal things, it's great that these videos won't be mixed in with them on that right hand column.

Then how's that lonely 32 year-old man with no TV who can't get a girl going to do?
I'm kidding.
But still, you tube users should be allowed to show their dirty sides.
I crack myself up.
