Yes. Suicide is considered a crime, and encouraging someone to commit a crime is a crime itself. It is not protected by Freedom of Speech.

I don't think so. But I think anyone who does do that should hop into a car crusher.

no. self determination.

It is deplorable, but it would definitely be a hard law to enforce. Maybe people who do that should be forced to wear a big red letter A to signify which body part they most resemble.

I think it's wrong but I don't think it should be a crime.
Unless you go "Kill yourself or I'll do it for you!"...

I can't come up with an answer. I do know that someone who would do that is a bastard.
I don't know how I would feel about it being a crime though.

"In a landmark cyberbullying trial, Lori Drew, 49, of O'Fallon, Mo., was convicted Wednesday in Los Angeles on misdemeanor federal charges of accessing computers without authorization.

Prosecutors said Drew and two others created a fictitious teenage boy on MySpace and sent flirtatious messages from him to neighbor Megan Meier, 13. The "boy" dumped Megan in 2006, telling her: "The world would be a better place without you."

Megan hanged herself."

It really depends on the situation. For instance, a schoolkid could be joking around and tell a depressed kid to kill themselves and be convicted of the same crime as somebody with truly malicious intent.

You shouldnt encourage someone, that should be a law
13 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 12/1/08 - 7:33:28 PM EST (GMT-5)
Maybe not up to a murder charge, but some kind of...something!
13 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Monday 12/1/08 - 7:40:38 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, people who tell other people they are going to kill themselves are just seeking attention.

^^^ So, you think it's a good thing that a 49 year old woman caused a 16 year old girl to commit suicide by hanging herself?

Maybe you're the loser that's a drag on society.

If they hate they're life so much then it would be cruel to make them stay. But i would not encourage them to do it.

Just because something is bad doesn't mean that it should be a crime. People have free will.

Also, that lady was just creepy.

That's an interesting question considering half the people who visit journals on a regular basis have told people to go kill themselves or in some way encouraged suicide.

It is a crime and should be treated as such.
