Once again the Republican’s main concern is taking the spotlight away from Obama. It’s what they’ve sought this entire campaign season and, suffice it to say, they’ve finally found something that works, kind of. Ironically, McCain picked someone who employs the same qualities he’s criticized in Obama.

McCain’s said Obama is too inexperienced to be President. What does that say about Palin who is far less experienced? She has no national political experience and only became governor of Alaska in 2006.

McCain accused Obama of being the “biggest celebrity in the world” comparing him to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. Yet, Palin was a pageant runner-up and named “America’s Hottest Governor.” It sounds like she has a lot more in common with Hilton and Spears than Obama does...

Do you think John McCain chose Sarah Palin to be his running mate to take some of the media attention off Obama?

No - I think it was a trade off. Lose the sting of the 'he's not experienced enough' argument in exchange for a desperation move to get women who once supported HIllary to vote for him. Frighteningly, in some contexts, it seems to be working a bit. But I also think that it's partially media distortion. The media wins when the race is tight. "Keep watching, it could go either way!" I've never met a single former Hillary supporter who isn't completely incensed about Palin's choice as a transparent ploy to say, "Women just want to vote for a woman - let's find the most repressive chick we can and put her up here with McCain to get those girls out to the polls for us!"
