No. No one McCain picked for Vice President would have made me change my mind on my support for Obama.

I think she's terrible, regardless of what Alaskan politicians say either way.
13 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Tuesday 9/2/08 - 7:51:55 PM EST (GMT-5)
Other Alaska politicians suck and she doesn't.
13 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Tuesday 9/2/08 - 8:20:59 PM EST (GMT-5)
DIdn't Palin come into power by unseating corrupted politicians? It's no surprise that some wouldn't like her...

It's funny that people are so afraid of having her "a heartbeat away from the presidency", but they don't mind having someone similarly inexperienced IN the presidency...

13 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Tuesday 9/2/08 - 8:23:40 PM EST (GMT-5)
^^^ The question would be, the ones who object to her age/inexperience the same ones who don't object to Obama's?

Some people could be objecting to both for the same reasons.

Others could be objecting to Palin for other reasons - such as her pro-life and pro-drilling stance.
13 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Tuesday 9/2/08 - 8:24:07 PM EST (GMT-5)
Not even a little. Not at all. I can't believe they're actually considering her.

Obama has A LOT more experience than her. Prior to her year and a half of governing Alaska she was the part time mayor of a town under 6,000 people.

Governor and mayor are at least executive positions (like the presidency). What executive offices has Obama held?

That is my question. The ones that seem to be critical of Palin's inexperience tend to embrace Obama. I would think that it is much more acceptable to be an inexperienced Vice President than an inexperienced President...

13 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Tuesday 9/2/08 - 9:29:49 PM EST (GMT-5)
^^^ Perhaps.

Kennedy didn't have much executive experience either, but he did (mostly) very well.

I'm more bothered by Sarah Palin's political views than I am by her experience or lack thereof.

But senator atleast prepares you more for a possible presidency more than being a mayor or governor. Biden V. Palin. HA!

McCain should have picked Condoleezza Rice as a running mate.
13 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Tuesday 9/2/08 - 10:57:56 PM EST (GMT-5)
Nope, she's done enough on her own to warrant my dislike for her

That would have been a dead giveaway that he was W part II. He's trying to deny that.

No, it wouldn't

No, it really doesn't. The Presidency is an executive position, Senator is not. It seems that an executive position (like Governor) would be better at preparing someone for a higher executive postion (like President) than being a Senator would...

I would argue that Kennedy didn't really do very well. His failures at Vienna brought the world to the showdown with the missiles in Cuba. His administration was in power when the decision was made for regime change in Vietnam and started the ball rolling toward that war...

Wow you guys all have such interesting things to say on this. I'm glad I read this thread, I was really thinking about skipping it.

She seems like she's such Yen-Yang opposite of McCain. She's a woman, he's a man, she's an executive he's a legislator he's old she's young. But one thing they seem to have in common is that neither of them is afraid of stepping on toes to make reforms.

Sarah Palin, who is the Governor of Alaska, is John McCain's choice for Vice President of the United States. Politically minded people are interested in her service in Alaska.

If so many Alaskans think she's a fiscal nightmare, how did she get her 80% approval rating?
