Senator Obama's trip to Germany seemed to be very successful, with many Germans backing his ideas of change. If John McCain went to Berlin, would the situation be the same?

Of course not, I doubt the majority of Germans go for the more conservative candidate even though the mayor of Berlin and Bush are apparently good buds. This is coming from a predominantly cable news-fed American, though.

I was just in Berlin last summer, most of my friends over there seemed pretty split on Bush. Some of them seemed like they were ready to stand behind him and others seemed ready to distance themselves from him.Even the ones who weren't big Bush supporters weren't really harsh with him or anything. And all of them liked America and talked about it like the US was a friend and ally.

So I guess my point is, I think if McCain went to Germany, they'd give him a perfectly fair chance. They'd welcome him warmly and listen to what he has to say. How they react to him, and how much support he pulls there would depend on him.

I think McCain would get a pretty fair chance if he talked to the German people. I'm not sure it would be as big of a reception because Obama seems to be a better public speaker.

No. It wouldn´t be the same. Believe me, people here in Germany have a bigger affinity with Obama

Who cares if a bunch of Germans like Obama, they can't vote so it shouldn't matter.

You think so many people turned out because Obama was such a great public speaker? I'm thinking that they were there for the free (paid for by the Obama campaign) concert and food...

still don't see the point, it doesn't matter if every single person in Germany likes Obama.

No. But it doesn;t really matter since they can't vote in an American election.
