It seems a little extreme to give them life, but what they did was so incredibly f*cked up that they might need an extreme punishment. At least 10-20.
Anyway, I doubt they'll get more than a slap on the wrist.

I'd give them 10 to 15 years....Life sentence is a bit too much.

I think that that sentence is a bit extreme but by all means give a good decade in jail.

I really don't think that long of a sentence would be nessessary... 10-20 years would be good

note that a life sentence does not actually mean life in prison...i think it's like 25 years, and most get parole anyway. That's why there is such a thing as consecutive life sentences...
I think a few years in prison might be good for them...but not decades.

Love this. 'Life' to us Brits IS 15-20 years.

That's so odd! Then why do they call it life? That's about as strange as here when a person can get 100 life sentences. That never made sense to me.
As far as this case goes, 'life in prison' in America, like people said, is usually 10-20 years - maybe even less with a liberal parole board and good behavior. However you can also be sentenced to 'life without the possibility of parole' which means your ass is in jail til you die no matter what. I think these teens should get the first kind, where they'll be out in 10 years or so. If you sentence them to 10 years, they'll MAYBE serve two.

10-15 years is not actually the time span for life in the UK. I detect a hint of cynicism in FishInABox's words.

I think 15 years or so would seem better.

Maybe. Just to make an example out of 'em. They are sick, sick people. But if they don't go for life. Stick 'em in the jail with the creepiest, horniest inmate for 15 years a piece.
