It can't possibly be worse than jail time.

People would just burn their houses down.
Only the people that need to know should be able to find out.

No, it's unfairly punishing the neighbors. They'd never be able to sell their houses.

I think 'murderer lives here' are more desired signs.

No. I fully support the registry, except maybe that I don't think it should be for life it is a case of consensual sex between a 19 year old and his 16 year old girlfriend. That seems ridiculous to me.
But the signs would lead to violence and would punish the neighbors, like someone else said.
There should be a law that child offenders can't live within a certain distance from a school. Plus child molesters should get significantly more jail time than what they do.

I agree. This happened to a friend of mine in high school, and it screwed him for life. He wasn't even the seducer, it was the 16 year old girl.

While I believe that sexual predators, especially child molesters should be locked up for life, if society is going to release them, then so be it. They have done their time, and making them post signs like this is not helping anyone. If the government thinks they are that likely to repeat their crime, they shouldn't be let free in the first place.
I also wish to echo the sentiments of those who don't see the point of keeping someone who has consensual sex with a 15-16 year old on the registry for the rest of their lives. That makes no sense at all.

Precisely. If you've served the time, you're done. If you're NOT done, then why the devil are they out?

No, I don't think they are very fair and potentially harmful. I think sexual predators should be in jail for a good long time and if/when they get out of jail they should be on strict parole with restrictions. If they are out then they have served there time (regardless of how right I think that is). Something like this wouldn't help anyone. It seems to be in would just be advertising for those who would like to cause harm to them.

No, I don't. As long as they did their time they should be able to move on with their lives.

Restrictions on where sex offenders can live are good. Like not having a house within so much distance of their favourite "get off". If they're trying to be rehabilitated then these signs will never help anything. Unless it's a serial offender who's been in and out of prison several times, then it's clear they don't really want to do anything other than fiddle with kiddies.

Let's be specific about this, shall we? Not every person who has to register as a sex offender even really do anything that horrible. Some of them still live with family members, and these signs would just be punishing the ones they live with and make it hard for them to move on with life.
