Example: Would opinions about immigration from Mexico amongst residents of border states generally be more valid than opinions from people who live in, say, Maine or Idaho?

You could say an opinion made more valid because of personal experience and first-hand observation of the problem.
...but you could also say that the opinion is made less valid because being directly involved in a situation makes it far more difficult to view the problem objectively. Question Who's Online | Find Members | Private Messages

Is someone's opinion about a social issue made more or less valid by the fact that they're directly involved in that issue?

Those who are NOT eye-witnesses to the Human Life in our world become totally dependant on the writers of mere words.

Human Beings are not a 'nationality' or a 'religion' .
That prejudice was done to us when we were too young to defend ourelves from the words issued to us by the local rulers of our territories and preachers of our local religions.

Note: Humans tend to 'see' what they are looking for. So if words told us that foreigners are 'bad' then we will look for evidence to prove what we were told to believe. We will find what we are looking for , and be wrong.
