They should have liquid hand sanitizers rather than water because they're more efficient at sanitizing than water is, I'm thinking.

There are times when my kids get messy from eating things in stores/restaurants, and I need running water. Sanitizer is nice, but it wouldn't clean messy things very well.

Maybe the option to choose would be nice?

Yes, I agree. Just like having the choice to use a paper towel or those horrid blow dryer things.

I've heard that hand sanitizer is less effective than water and soap. Even if it wasn't I'd rather have water.

if we all used hand sanitizer all the time the germs would mutiate into super bugs we couldn't kill...so no

Ditto that. Hand sanitizers screw with my skin.

The option would be nice. A better option would be to disable the urinals in the men's room from flushing. It would stink, but nothing a little clorox wouldn't fix.
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Tuesday 10/23/07 - 6:28:02 AM EST (GMT-5)
Hand sanitizers tend to be drying on the skin if used to often. At least that's what I heard.

They do make flushless urinals, IRLTeach. I've heard the older ones aren't good, but the newer ones work as intended.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of those. There's a lot of cost up front, though.

What about the stalls? Men do other things than pee in there.

I think hand sanitizers could be provided but there is no need to completely take away the faucets.

They should have both.

I'm thinking a little water used is acceptable.

Perhaps include liquid sanitisers, and keep running water, but you'd need to pay a small amount to use it (the water).
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Wednesday 10/24/07 - 8:10:25 AM EST (GMT-5)
I think both would be a nice choice, it's like that in certain places here.

Discrimination against people with skin conditions!

I'm guessing there are pay toilets where isthiez lives.

Not where I live, but they exist.

Is paying for parking space discrimination against drivers?

14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Thursday 10/25/07 - 10:50:56 AM EST (GMT-5)
Try an analogy more like paying for a handicap parking space.

That would have been better, but even in my example you're paying for receiving something.

The price of water is just going to go up and up. It's free in public restrooms, but not because it's not worth anything.

I don't see a price for water happening. I don't think the restaurants or whatever would take the trouble to put in a system to collect the money. How would this system work? One of those coin slots? Or a place to swipe a credit card? B-)
