Keep in mind he's using the term 'ethnic cleansing' as a separation of ethnic groups. He's not using the term to describe genocide.

But 'ethnic cleansing' makes it sound like he wants to get rid of one of the groups. Or he's interested in some kind of racial purity or something.

The idea is Iraq may have to be separated into different countries in order to prevent a civil war.

It's been done before hasn't it? Pakistan and India used to be one country before the British separated it on ethnic lines.

It might be the only solution for Iraq.

The British never separated India and Pakistan on ethnic lines.

That was a direct result of Indians and Pakistanis wanting their own say.

EthNic cleansing "is" a term to describe the separation of ethnic groups but it's used to describe the forcible separation usually at the expense of the minority group.

During the "separation" of India and Pakistan some 14 million people were displaced and some half a million people died and they still haven't actually settled where the borders are.

You make this sound like it was some government sponsored exchange program.

Bush was just overall a massive mistake on the part of the voters...I'm very glad I'll finally be able to take part in the next election...

Though of course, the popular vote counts for very little.
