I don't think anyone is going to forget it in a hurry, but the fall of the berlin wall has to be a close second.

Yeah I'd say so for sure. Never seen anything like that and I was watching it live down here. The Vietnam war scene of the young girl running naked covered in napalm is another powerful depiction, but pales into comparison when seeing the planes fly into those gigantic buildings, then seeing them fall to the ground. No one who saw it will forget it.

Yeah. It's also more recent and a lot more people have televisions now, then say, when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon.

I would hesitate to agree. When it actually happened there were nopt that many people watching it on TV. It might be memorable footage but not a memorable moment. It's funny how the link quotes a British survey. To me one of the most memorable TV moments on British TV was when the SAS stormed the Iranian Embassy... not some comedy sketch by Monty Python or The Two Ronnies.. that didn't get a mention. I guess people have short memories.

It is memborable for all the wrong reasons. I doubt many people would chose to remember due to the horror associated with it. I tend to agree with boredofu when he says it's memorable footage. Perhaps the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth or the Moon Landing attracted a wider audience. Charles and Diana's Wedding. Live coverage from the Gulf War.

It doesn't even come close to that TV episode where Fonzie jumps over a shark...

I'd prefer to call it infamous. I remember walking into class and thinking it was a movie, until the teacher said it was live TV. And then they dropped. It was horrible.

Sure, whether people care or not, the tragic day should be remembered.
