My animals, all three, are scared of Hispanic people. We have a Mexican cleaning crew in our building, and they and landscapers are always speaking Spanish. If my animals hear it, the cats run and hide and my dog starts freaking out.

My cat doesn't like blonde women. I think it's because my ex-roommate (who is blonde) used to hit him and yell at him.

My Mom claims that when she was a child, she had a racist dog.
14 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Saturday 10/6/07 - 5:23:47 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, I don't but I know that we have had a couple of dogs who don't trust anyone easily and some of them happen to be another nationality. I don't think it has anything to do with where the person comes from but the way they look and what the dog can understand from them.

Um, no. Not that I know of. They are pretty timid around new people.

My dog either doesn't like or is scared of hispanic people. I don't know why, but every time there's one at my house, she flips out. Except for my cleaning lady, but when they first met she flipped out. Now I think my dog is used to her.

I had like 10 brown chickens and one black one, and all the brown ones went after the black one.

It was because he was black.

My border collie acts extremely racist towards black people and little white girls.

I dont know why, and I sure as hell didin't train him to be that way.

My sister's cat hates Japanese people... I'm not sure why. She seems okay with Chinese and Korean people...

My dogs hate men their deep voices scare them.
My one dog chases all cats except black ones she kisses them...she such a weird dog!
14 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Thursday 12/13/07 - 3:53:14 PM EST (GMT-5)
Nope. We always have different people in the house, 'cause my mom's a piano teacher. The dogs never had a problem with any of 'em.

No, my dog has always been around a diverse group.
But when he was a puppy he was aggressive towards people in wheelchairs or crutches. He was just scared. They probably looked threatening to him.
I got a kick out of it though.

my hamster would bite white people...

14 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Friday 12/28/07 - 10:56:44 AM EST (GMT-5)
No! I can't imagine a pet being racist.
14 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Friday 12/28/07 - 4:03:21 PM EST (GMT-5)
I used to have a dog who hated men with mustaches (never meet a woman with one to test that)...

His previous owner left him outside all the time in the freezing cold and he had a big bushy mustache. Maybe that's why.

14 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Friday 12/28/07 - 4:08:22 PM EST (GMT-5)
My dog is fairly fearful of strangers in general, but there was a point where she would hide under chairs from black people and any small children. She's a bit better about it now though.

I think animals are able to notice physical characteristics, draw correlations between appearance and behavior, and act accordingly.
If a dog had been abused by, say, dark-skinned/black males all of his life, I wouldn't be surprised if the dog reacted negatively when confronted with these people.

No I don't, I'm not altogether sure whether that's possible.

I would hope a korean store owner and a dog's minds didn't work in the same way.
