When you buy clothing that comes with an extra button in case you lose one, do you ever actually use it? Do you even keep it? I usually throw them away.

I have never lost a button off a piece of clothing in my entire life, and if I did I probably would never find the right button, and I would probably be too lazy to sew it on anyway. Yet I keep them. I have buttons for clothes that I grew out of and got rid of years ago.

Usually the clothes come with a button sewn-in on the care label, so if you need it you just cut it out and replace the missing one. Easy-Peasey.

It seems as though the buttons never come off of things that come with extra buttons. Buttons only fall off of things I don't have extra buttons for....it's a conspiracy.
