I'd find it an interesting notion - and probably inquire what on earth that means. Aren't all friendships just social experiments anyway?

No, but I'd probably put away the test tubes, graduated cylinders and Bunsen burners after that...

yes. scientific terms are meant to simplify things. to figure out the complicated. it would be like simplifying the friendship. friendships are supposed to create a bond that is woven with secrets and things no one else understands except for the other person.

That's unclear to say the least. By experiment, they could mean they tried to make a friend that has a different race, economic status, religion etc. I'd think it was pretty strange

Well, I'd wonder why they said that.

Depends on what my "relationship" was.... If I was starting up an "alternative lifestyle" type of relationship---if I had my head on straight, I'd expect those kinds of comments--I mean, it's not like I'd have some super power enabling me to displace the norms of society or something... Oh---and I would have looked up the seperation rates based around such relationships in preparation for it crashing and burning in the real world....200% and 500% for m/m and f/f respectively.... Something about the behavior of those out to please themselves carries over to what they want vs. the relationship in the first place... But hey, it's a free country.... we all get to make our own mistakes---we just don't get to expect people to agree with us, do we? next please

I'd be angry with them for saying something like that and I'd wonder why they would say this.

it depends on the context. if they said it to somebody else in a derogatory fashion, well yeah, obviously. on the other hand, if there were good reasons for us to not get along and we did anyways, and the comment came up as a result of that conversation, i wouldnt be offended at all.

I would probably think that they were joking, but if I found out that they were serious I'd be a little upset. It all depends on the situation I guess.

Yes...most of my friends don't really have room to talk when it comes to relationships...we all make mistakes, but you're supposed to support your friends..not try to tear them or their relationships down.

No, after some careful thought, it's probably the best word for it.
