Other than title, what's the difference?

Seeing as how the idea of both is to stay together with a person for life, they're essentially the same thing.

Kiki should have put something in the description about the differences. She just wants to get her question count up, screw providing the information to discuss it.

I'd rather have the lifetime partnership over the marriage because I won't have to pay for lawyers if we decide to divorce.

If I'm going to marry someone it had f*cking better be a lifetime commitment. Period, end of story, no ifs ands or buts.

Some people don't want the piece of paper saying they are married.

If they're doing essentially the same thing though I don't see why the paper would much matter.

Probably a lifetime partnership, since I don't believe in marriage.

Meh, marriage makes it official and certain things not in sin. I'd rather be married.

Just as long as it's not marriage.

I'd rather have a lifetime partnership. At least then I know the person will always be with me, and we don't have to worry about marriage costs, divorce, or anything. If I got married (well first of all, I couldn't, it would have to be a civil union) then all of that comes into play.

I want to get married. I think, even with a "lifetime partnership," people can still back out of it whenever they want. With marriage, people think about it more, since it's a "binding contract."

Life partner, simply because the idea that I am lawfully bound to one person scares me.

The latter. I've always thought that it was a better idea anyway. If the need for marriage arises--insurance issues, buying property, etc.--then I will, but marriage makes no difference in a relationship.

Life partner. Sometimes I think such relationships are more sucessful than marriages because in lifetime partnerships, you're not lawfully tied down to one person.

Marriage comes with tax benefits and insurance reductions. With a lifetime partnership, all you get is some jackass to live with forever.

I want whatever works out. If I'm happy with someone forever without marriage, so be it.

It's all the same to me, though my girlfriend doesn't see it that way.

I would be happy with a lifetime partner, I don't really care much about "making it official" by getting married.
