Using a plate and cereal bowl that indicate proper portion sizes helped obese patients with diabetes lose weight and decrease their use of glucose-controlling medications, says a Canadian study. The plates -- divided into painted-line sections for carbohydrates, proteins, vegetables, cheese and sauce -- held enough for an 800-calorie meal for men and a 650-calorie meal for women. The bowl allowed for a 200-calorie serving of cereal and milk.

but that only works if you eat the correct thing to start with, for example long life bread has much more fat than normal wholemeal, so you can eat the same portion size and get different nutrition, I prefear to go by the information on the packet, and calories etc, if necessery I weigh the food out to work out the correct amount.

I might be interested, but not for the healthy eating/dieting aspect. I just really hate it when my foods touch each other. ;)

I think they'd be fascinating to see and use once, as so many people have "portion distortion".
I wouldn't buy them, though.
13 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Saturday 1/3/09 - 6:17:27 AM EST (GMT-5)
I don't think I'd use them properly - I'd just take seconds if their portion was too small for me. I like eating too much for that.
