Does it make you more likely to see it? A portion of their review and a link to the rest continues:

'Filmmaker Michael Moore's brilliant and uplifting new documentary, 'Sicko,' deals with the failings of the U.S. healthcare system, both real and perceived. But this time around, the controversial documentarian seems to be letting the subject matter do the talking, and in the process shows a new maturity.

Unlike many of his previous films ('Roger & Me,' 'Bowling for Columbine,' 'Fahrenheit 9-11'), 'Sicko' works because in this one there are no confrontations. Moore smartly lets very articulate average Americans tell their personal horror stories at the hands of insurance companies. The film never talks down or baits the audience. 'This film is a call to action,' Moore said at a press conference. 'It's also not a partisan film.'

Haha! Here's why, he slams Hillary in it...good man.

Michael Moore hits Clinton in 'Sicko'

I guess they actually think it's a good documentary.

I think thats great and will make a lot of the lefties who like to attack Fox News take a moment of pause before they start attacking. Fox actually has a lot of Dems who watch it and when they do something like praise a Michael Moore film it shows that their market is a bit more balanced than people think.

What? So all the blatant lies and f*ck ups are excused because they praise a film which has a left wing agenda?

Give me a break.

I thought it might show that they aren't always pushing an "agenda" and can every once in a while do some reporting. One should hope they would since more Dems are watching FNC than CNN and MSNBC now combined.

I'm not going to excuse Fox news's OBVIOUS flaws because they praise a left-winger with equally obvious flaws...

The fact that they would praise anything done by that sicko just makes me want to stop watching Fox at all.

i just watched sicko yesterday. im moving to france.

Are you saying that you didn't like SiCKO? And also Tasdavil I think you're missing the topic of the conversation. The point is that FNC gave a good review to a movie thats probably not inline with most of their viewers.

One positive review of a person of equally extreme views on the opposite end of the scale doesn't restore my faith on the balance of Fox news.

Ironically, the extreme left and extreme right are actually similar in a lot of ways.

Besides, it may have been a good review. Moore might well have toned down his views and learned to have a bit of integrity. But after years of bull from Fox, a single good review is hardly going to make a big difference to my opinion of them.

"'Sicko' works because in this one there are no confrontations."

Interesting irony.

Because Fox is never confrontational...

The guys that shout down their guests?

No doubt, I saw it a couple nights ago and I was like France is where it's at!! Maybe I could even be persuaded to have kids if everything is free - even a free teacher to teach you how to be a mom?! And $1 an hour for daycare ... that's insane.

14 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Sunday 7/15/07 - 11:56:52 PM EST (GMT-5)
Did you completely miss Moore when he was interviews on CNN and he railed on Blitzer and Gupta for telling the wrong facts and not having integrity? The youtube has been up all over the place. Moore completely ripped into CNN - and it was so bad they had to have him on the next night so they could try to regain some credibility. In the end Gupta even acknowledge that he was wrong. And this has probably been the most confrontational interview Moore has done in regards to SiCKO - and not on Fox.

Who are you talking to? And what has CNN got to do with anything?

My point is that CNN is equally guilty of the criticism you were giving to FNC and can not be singled out. Also, that you implied that because you didn't have faith in Fox you had more faith in other cable news which in my mind you shouldn't because as Moore pointed out CNN has failed to ask tough questions about the war for years.

So maybe CNN has problems too, as far as that particular criticism is concerned. I didn't see Moore's interview with CNN but maybe you're right. Who knows?

Personally, I stick with Australian news networks most of the time. But I do watch other networks enough to be aware of what they're like. And I think Fox is the worst I've seen. Doesn't mean to say other networks are angels.

14 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Sunday 7/22/07 - 11:24:41 PM EST (GMT-5)
So you you get all the American cable news networks in Australia? I'm curious - I've never been over there. I've also heard that in Europe most American news looks conservative no matter what network it is. Also, because the other networks have been losing out to Fox (especially during the 04 elections) they've been shifting to look more conservative to try and boost there ratings. Have you seen that at all either?
14 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Monday 7/23/07 - 1:05:40 PM EST (GMT-5)
I don't give a sh*t about Fox News, Michael Moore is awesome. Atleast someone is fighting the press.
14 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Monday 7/23/07 - 1:22:48 PM EST (GMT-5)
Fox News lures people to their show, to bash them from a safe distance, where the majority of the audience is on the news' side in these confrontations, with great headlines such as "_____ Photographs young girls online"
What does that sound like to you?
Reality is, this guy was like Hefner, a professional photographer, making legal pictures, breaking no morals or laws. (infact the 18-24 y.o. girls sent the photos to him for his modeling website, none of which were sexually explicit, he never took any photos himself.)
And that one Asian b*tch on Fox News trialed him for his job, saying he exploits young women, promoted pedophilia, degrades women and that hes a loser.

Don't watch Fox New unless you think lies are tasty.

Don't you mean CNN since they're the one's that Moore is attacking. Fox complimented Moore and CNN was saying he screwed up the facts and it was Blitzer and Gupta that Moore had arguments with over the film and tried to go after him.

14 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Friday 8/3/07 - 10:15:53 PM EST (GMT-5)
Unless Murdoch sells FOX news, it will never be fair and balanced.
14 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Sunday 8/5/07 - 11:30:52 PM EST (GMT-5)
Why would Murdoch ever sell the most watched news network out there? He's actually making another news channel that will be more like CNBC with financial news too. Fox is probably the best thing he owns.
14 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Sunday 8/19/07 - 6:00:33 PM EST (GMT-5)
slightly, but not because of the video itself, just ebcause films generally get bad reviews
