Forget the tuxedo. Jerry Seinfeld made his big appearance at the Cannes Film Festival wearing a fuzzy bumblebee suit and black tights. 'You know, one thing I hate is any kind of movie promotion that smacks of desperation in any way,' the 53-year-old comedian said, before jumping from the roof of an eight-story luxury hotel, arms and legs flailing, and heading down to the beach on a cord.

Seinfeld's 'Bee Movie' is the latest DreamWorks Animation film to dramatize the secret life of a pesky insect (following 'Antz'). It doesn't open until November, but Seinfeld was in Cannes on Thursday showing 30 minutes of highlights. He has spent the past four years developing the film, writing the script and giving voice to its leading role.

He's a comedian. People shouldn't be suprised by his actions. If he came out and did a drama that would shock me.

I lost all respect for Seinfeld when he had that affair with his wife's adopted daughter. I still can't believe California elected him governor after that.

He's not a hacky comedian though, he doesn't do costumes or props or any weird stuff. I saw these pics and I was like JERRRYYY WWWHHHHYYYY?!

I never had any respect for him. I've always hated him, and now I think he's an even bigger ass.

I've never thought he was funny.. He's like Bob Saget's goofy little brother or something.. Ugh.
14 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Monday 6/25/07 - 1:03:01 AM EST (GMT-5)
I don't need to respect someone to think they're funny.
14 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Monday 6/25/07 - 1:05:43 AM EST (GMT-5)

Oh, wow.. I completely ignored the question.. anyway, no.. I didn't lose any respect for him because I didn't quite have any for him in the first place.

i never even had any respect for him anyway
14 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Thursday 7/5/07 - 7:35:49 AM EST (GMT-5)
I never had much to begin with.
14 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Thursday 7/5/07 - 7:48:18 AM EST (GMT-5)
The guy is hilarious. I respect him as a comedian.

So he dressed up in a bumblebee suit.. big deal.

If he called someone a n*gger during a stand up routine... THEN I'd lose respect for him

At least he made a joke about it.
14 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Sunday 8/26/07 - 7:35:15 AM EST (GMT-5)
I love the TV show Seinfeld but I was never a fan of his stand-up, and now I suppose I'm even less of a fan.
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Tuesday 10/30/07 - 8:45:17 PM EST (GMT-5)
I never did. Sitcoms suck.
14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Wednesday 10/31/07 - 11:51:02 PM EST (GMT-5)
Neoncarrot makes a good point ( plus he helps you see in the dark )

Seinfeld isn't funny, in my opinion, he's annoying and outdated. Skinny blue jeans and white shoes aside, the guy actually has more of my respect WITH the bee outfit, and thats only because he's dressed like a bee.

Full marks to anyone who knows the exact amount of crappy Bee jokes he told while sporting that outfit.

14 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Wednesday 10/31/07 - 11:51:31 PM EST (GMT-5)
I never had respect for him in the first place. He annoys the heck out of me.

I don't feel respect for any comedian really. They either make me laugh or they don't. Jerry doesn't make me laugh so much these days.

On a somewhat related note, that movie looks stupid.

Can't lose any respect for a person you had no respect for in the first place.
14 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Tuesday 1/8/08 - 9:59:09 PM EST (GMT-5)
no, i never had any respect for him.
14 yrs ago - Friday 4/25/08 - 11:00:53 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, it didn't phase me a bit.
14 yrs ago - Thursday 5/15/08 - 9:25:23 PM EST (GMT-5)
I never had much respect for him in the first place, but plugging another crappy CGI movie (to be fair, a couple were ok) doesn't do much for his rep. in my mind.
