Who the hell watches this stuff? What, precisely, is so entertaining about watching fat kids losing weight?

I think it is mean but also quite useless. I pity people who'd go on that show. Go on a bloody diet and exercise.

The problem I have with this show is that the kids are FORCED to do it. If they were doing it of their own free will in an attempt to lose weight, I'd have no problem with it, but that's apparently not the case. It's unnecessarily cruel--at least give the kids a choice in the matter.

^^"A British reality television program to be filmed in Australia this winter will FORCE fat children to hunt for food with Aborigines." It sounds like it.

I think that it sounds a little bit stupid. I wouldn't watch it but I guess it could make the kids think about food but I think it's also cruel.

It says force them to hunt, it doesn't say force them to sign up for the show. Unless the parents force the kids to do the show.

That would be an experience that few people get to experience. They may not appreciate it or want to do it, but from my point of view the kids are being given an invaluable life experience.

It sounds like it. | In Survivor, you are FORCED to vote someone off the island, but that doesn't mean the government conscripts people to go to remote islands and entertain the rest of the population. I think that the show is done with the consent of the parents. I personally find nothing cruel about it. What's so cruel about making kids work for their food?

I absolutely agree, but I actually think the government should force kids to spend some time in the wilderness surviving on their own

Considering that I was overweight as a kid, it does especially bother me. Even though I got made fun of as a kid, my weight never really bothered me. I was in Gifted, always on A Honor Roll, and had tons of friends. I was otherwise healthy, and it was no big deal.

I think it would be a good experience for *any* child to see how other cultures survive. For that matter, any *adult* could benefit also. The part of losing weight and have people watch.. seems sort of humiliating to me.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I would probably be tempted to watch this out of morbid curiosity. It's still humiliating and cruel, though. The heart of the problem is that the children need to lose weight and be healthy; I don't believe that humiliating someone is a good way of motivating them to do this.

I'm sure some of the parents are pretty much forcing them to do it though. Which is just as cruel really.

I think the meanest part is the name.... if it wasn't just for fat kids i don't think it would be a big deal...but that would kind of defeat the purpose i guess

I don't really think it's gonna help any kids lose weight once they get off the show. Unless these kids are going to go around cities hunting pigeons because they're high in protein.

sounds like an awful show, wouldn't watch it just because it sounds rubbish, but it's right that they are actually teaching kids where food comes from. The amount of people I know who will only eat fish if it is filleted and covered in bread crumbs because they can't stand to see the fish's head/eyes, or wouldn't eat hog-roast because they can see that it's a pig they are eating, but are happy to eat vaccum packed pork, it's all abit hypocritical.

I don't think it's that bad. At a certain point everyone has to take control of their own life. No one is forcing these kids to eat till they get huge(one hopes) and no one is forcing them to go on national TV. They probably want to do it. Besides, I was always humiliated to never be able to fit in the damn clothes at Wal-mart, but I was never humiliated about trying to better myself and be healthier. Lost 130 lbs and feeling great, thank you very much. Plus, if I'd had a chance to see other cultures up close and personal, I'd be all over that.
