I've just checked out the website of the Terror Free Oil Initiative. That group seems to think that importing oil from the Middle East is 'supporting terrorism'. I thought that the USA had allies in the Middle East? Surely describing a whole region as terroristic is going to be conuter-productive in that it demonises the entire region and may invoke a back-lash? This seem to be an ill thought out plan to try to get Americans buying American oil. Perhaps I'm being overly cynical, but I don't think so!

Remember, at one point we were pretty chummy with Iraq and Afghanistan and the same countries we are planning on invading today. What do we have left ... the UAE? Saudi Arabia? Those may not last long.

Certainly not. This sounds like something Bush has thought up.

How on earth does it sound like something Bush would make up? He's in with all the middle-eastern oil companies, he makes money off of it most likely. Plus he's still fighting to get even more of his oil. It would kill him if people refused to buy oil from the mid-east.

Not really. Gasoline is gasoline to me.

Umm, considering I drive an astro van...there's no way I'd drive out of my way for anything. Besides, it doesn't really matter to me where the gas comes from.

How about countries that support human rights? That give a fair share of the profits to their people? That clean up their oil spills, don't destroy villages, pollute water, destroy ecosystems? How about oil that hasn't killed thousands of people and endangered thousands of species? Or oil that, instead of simply spreading corruption and gets tucked away in politicians pockets, is used for the good of everyone for roads, trade, hospitals, agriculture, schools? WHERE IS THE HIPPY OIL?
