What a jerky teacher. I'd fire her.

Fire a teacher for teaching? Can't say I would be tickled about it. But I don't think the teacher crossed the line.

I don't know if she deserves to be fired, but I don't agree with what she did. It's akin to a teacher telling her students that there is no God. It's not a teacher's place to decide what those kids are taught to believe. Their parents should have that privilege. Still, losing her job over this might be a bit extreme.

She obviously doesn't understand what Santa means to kids, so she cannot be a very good teacher.

I'm not sure. I think she definitely crossed that line between information that teachers should give students and information that should be left up to the parents to share; it was inappropriate, but I'm not sure if she should be fired for it.

The non-existence of Santa, though, is fact. I just don't think it was right for her to share that fact.

The idea of Santa isn't traditional anymore. It's all commercial. So why does it matter if she does or doesn't tell them? They'll find out eventually that he's fake from seeing 20 Santas at one Wal-Mart.

Thing to me is, if the parents of these children had not filled their heads with that Santa bullsh*t in the first place, they would not have been upset to learn the truth about it being a lie.

'there will be no written reprimand because she did not violate any school district policy. 'We have no Santa clause,' Donzelli said. 'We would think that teachers would use better judgment." lol I like that bit

Uproar about crap like this makes me sick. There are far more important things for parents to be concerned about when it comes to their kid's education, like bullying, peer pressure, teachers practising obvious favoritism with select pupils (P.E teachers are GREAT at this), unnessesary, pressuring tests or the best way to inform them about sex and drugs, but whining parents keep these concerns to themselves or confined to their book groups and evening classes and do nothing. But what gets them seething? What makes them call for a parent teacher meeting and demand resignations? Bloody Santa Claus! This happend over here too. The article goes on to say, (word for word), "and told the class of 30 pupils, some as young as 11," Eleven!! Some as YOUNG as eleven, which implies that eleven was the YOUNGEST age she taught, and most were OLDER! What kind of tit end still beleives in Santa beyond the age of seven? The world's a harsh place to be these days, they need

No, she shouldn't have been fired. I think that the kids would find out eventually so why fire her for telling them the truth?

This is up to the parents, not the teacher to tell the kids. I don't think she should be fired, but it really was a stupid thing for her to do.

Wow, thats one mean teacher... But regardless, you can't fire a teacher for teaching something that happens to be true.

Yea, I dunno about her losing her job over this, but I think it definitely warranted her being reprimanded.

She probably could have handled it better, but it's not like it's a national secret or anything.
