Umm, ok, so then all the germs get on the red plastic handle? Great idea. I have never heard of anyone getting sick from handling a shopping cart, because it doesn't happen, because people worry way too damn much. Just wash your hands regularly you should be fine. Everything that is handled by many people is covered in germs and probably E Coli, worry about it enough and you'll go nuts.

I always wash my hands when I come home from the grocery store - not only because of the cart handle, but because of all the produce other people have picked up too and the exchange of money and using their little pen on the debit machine. In fact one store I go to has Purell on the way out if you want it. I'd feel like a geek putting one of those things on.

give me f*ckin break... When is this nonsense going to stop? Now the guy making snadwiches wear gloves: it makes me more suspicious of the sandwich than happy about germs.

I'm not a fan of products like Purell because eventually various germs and bacteria will become tolerant of the active ingredients and we will be stuck with resistant super-strands.

No, it's a horrible idea. When are people going to stop and think about it. We NEED "germs". We need them so that our immune systems have something to do besides shut down from being protected from everything that would strengthen it.

I think it's neurotic... but hey: if someone can make a few bucks selling to germ-fearing people... More power to them !!

Dumb. You can't go through life trying to avoid every single germ. Then when you turn 35 and touch an unprotected door handle you'll get pneumonia and die.

I wish people would f*cking stop worrying THAT F*CKING MUCH so that stronger strands of bacteria wouldn't be created.

Quite unnecessary. You'll be touching so many germs while picking out the groceries, so what's the use? Just wash your hands when you get home.

No. If I worried about germs that much I would not be in a grocery store breathing the germ filled air.

Oh for crying out loud! If you're that paranoid just wash your hands with soap and water afterwards.

No because it would be a waste of money. In theory to be proactive stores could wipe down the handles once they are gathered from the parkinglot. I believe that grocery cart handles have become a well known germ area, much like subway poles.

When the baby was little, and in the "chewing" stage, I did take hand sanitizer everywhere, and wiped down the cart handle.

It makes sense, since germs are everywhere. I wouldn't buy one, but I do wash my hands before I eat. Nasty stuff is everywhere these days.
