Well most people says nobody should have control over it which I agree with in principle. But there are ALREADY several governing bodies.

In practice, SOMEBODY needs to look after the internet's basic structures such as the few domain name servers. Without the domain name servers ALL web page addresses would stop working. And whoever does, partially controls the internet by dafault.

The private sector body ICANN is currently in control of URLS for example.

Other organisations are The Internet Society and W3C.

Nobody controls the internet as such but it's a very grey area. There's a few organisations that have a lot of say.

Until the UN learns to govern its own officials it shouldn't be allowed to govern the internet. And even then it shouldn't be allowed to control the internet.

it is already being governed by the U.S. goverment, so i think that rather then having the U.S. rule it, the U.N. should. The U.S. has way to much power anyway.
