Did you just make up a new phobia and/or word?

Anyway, I would hope not, but given the current climate of fear and apparent racism - there's a good chance it will.

I would sincerely hope the movie doesn't focus on a negative image of any particular racial group (and if it does, then I say it's just to make money from rednecks)

God dammit I am SO sick of these stupid 'phobia' questions popping up, f*ck!

You know what increases hatred of Islam? Flying f*cking airplanes into our buildings and killing three thousand innnocent people. This movie isn't reminding us of something we ever forgot.

16 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/9/06 - 1:01:48 AM EST (GMT-5)
And Islam isn't a racial group, Beano.
16 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/9/06 - 2:01:37 AM EST (GMT-5)
Forgive me aburame - a religeous group then?

Still - I don't see how we can justify hatred of any generic group of people - we haven't embraced a feeling of hatred towards middle class white anarchists who try to destroy part of a country or government with letter bombs or guns have we?

16 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/9/06 - 2:20:25 AM EST (GMT-5)
Nope, those who fear or hate Islam/Muslims will just keep on doing so, and those who don't probably won't change their mind because of a movie.
16 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/9/06 - 8:41:31 AM EST (GMT-5)
It's not a generic group of people, it's a religion of hatred and martrydom. I see nothing wrong with embracing ill will towards such a religion, it's no different than hating the doctrine of racism or totalitarianism, and thus we hate most racist and dictators.
16 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/9/06 - 9:06:53 AM EST (GMT-5)
Dude - how can you justify hatred against an entire religeous group, when not all of them are guilty of the horrendous acts you are referring to?

Yours is the kind of mind that condones vilification against all people of the Muslim faith regardless of their activities or feelings towards other men and women, rather than judging individuals by their actions. grow up.

16 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/9/06 - 9:08:30 AM EST (GMT-5)
I sincerely hope not.

Nope it's a real thing!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamophobi...

I think the 'phobia' isn't a real phobia though, it's kind of like homophobia. They aren't irrationally terrified of Arabs/Islamic people, they just hate them.

16 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/9/06 - 2:00:53 PM EST (GMT-5)
no i don't.

people will always remember the terrorists and it doesn't matter what race/religion they are.
(ie a movie about the ira wouldn't make people mad about irish/catholics either. just about terrorists)

I never said we should hatred and persecute Muslims, I said we should hate their *religion*, their doctrine of world subjucation in the name of God and the Prophet and stamping out heresy wherever they see.

I never said anything about hurting people.

Have you ever even read the damned doctrine? It sure as hell doesn't sound like it.

"O Prophet! Make war against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be merciless against them. Their home is hell, an evil refuge indeed." (Koran, 9:73)

You say "Islamophobia" I say just good ol' racism..
16 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/9/06 - 6:36:31 PM EST (GMT-5)
"Islamophobia" isn't increased by watching movies like United 93, its increased by watching people riot over things like this
16 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/9/06 - 6:40:46 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'm with beano. You can't hate a religion because a few people are extremists.

And no. A movie won't change opinions.

There is some equivalent crap in the bible, the things about women and the way they are "impure" for about half of thier lives is the first thing that comes to my mind at the moment.

The problem here is not the religion, it is rigid integrism. There are some just as bad in christianity, there are just not as many poor, completely desperate integrist christians for it to be as much of a problem.

16 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/9/06 - 6:49:25 PM EST (GMT-5)
Name the verse, in the New Testament, that tells Christians to wage war against anyone.
16 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/9/06 - 6:50:13 PM EST (GMT-5)
Pielle, of course there are, the difference is that Christianity has a counter message of peace and love, and is capable of being WATERED down. We as a nation live as religious moderates, ignoring parts of the Bible that are clearly incomptable with the modern world.

Islam is not so ambigious, it's message is clear: wage war, kill, or subjugate any non-Muslims. This message cannot be watered down or confused for anything else. Also, because it creates absolutely NO distinction between religious and political law, Muslim nations want their governments ran by Islamic traditions of law, making it almost impossible to find toleration in such regimes.

16 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/9/06 - 7:05:07 PM EST (GMT-5)
Luke 9:51-55 shows the difference between muslums and the True followers of Christ. If you reject Christians, TRUE Christians, they'll go away and leave you alone; muslums will behead you if you reject them.
16 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/9/06 - 7:10:46 PM EST (GMT-5)
I don't think so. The movie actually made the terrorists more human and less threatening than I had pictured them before.

16 yrs ago - Tuesday 5/9/06 - 7:17:09 PM EST (GMT-5)
Anyhow, I doubt it will.

And I'm not going to get into the Islamophobia argument, because it would just never end.

You can hate my religion , but my religion dosen't command us to "wage war ,kill, or subjugate any non-Muslims" as you claimed before , I've noticed alot of people who read the Quran get confused with the words , but they never try to translate each verse ,the Quran is very complex , you like some other people read it like it is , no wonder you have so much hatred ..

Islam and terrorism don't mix , they have no connection , I don't care how many terrorists are out there who claim to be Muslims , terrorists are terrorists they will use everything and anything to achieve their goal for hate and destruction , they will even use religion

16 yrs ago - Wednesday 5/10/06 - 1:52:14 PM EST (GMT-5)
Islams perspective on terror attacks and the killing of the innocent is that all forms of terrorist attack are roundly condemned in Islam. According to the Qur'an, it is a great sin to kill an innocent person, and anyone who does so will suffer great torment in the Hereafter
There is a verse that equals the killing of one innocent to slaughtering all of humanity

Even Mohammad (pbuh ) said :

"He who kills himself with anything, Allah will torment him with that in the fire of Hell"

"...If anyone killed a person not in retaliation for murder or to spread mischief in the land, it would be as if he killed the whole of mankind. And (likewise) if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the whole of mankind"
(Surah Al-Maaida 5:32)

Thus, all other types of extremities such as hostage taking, hijacking and planting bombs in public places, are clearly forbidden in Islam

16 yrs ago - Wednesday 5/10/06 - 1:53:24 PM EST (GMT-5)
And also I'd like to make it clear that Islam does not force non-Muslims to embrace Islam, Islam recognizes people's freedom to choose their own faith. This freedom is stressed in the following Qur’anic verses: [Let there be no compulsion in religion: truth stands out clear from error] (Al-Baqarah 2:256) and [Wilt thou (Muhammad) then compel mankind, against their will, to believe!] (Yunus 10:99).
