It makes sense in a funny sort of way. Considering the human life span was probably 25-30 years back then, a 'teenage' boy would have been in his prime. He'd have been the hunter and the hero, hence it makes sense he'd be the one bragging about his kills.

I've never seen any graffiti of cars or Jedi armour... It's usually just squiggles...

I remember being taught that these cave drawings were made because people believed that drawings like these allowed them to wield control over the animals and help them kill them, sorta like magic.

I don't think there is an easy way to prove it, but it sure would be interesting if that were the case.

I saw an entire TV program about it. It claimed that they were painting things that they saw during hallucinations that were triggered by spending extended periods in the pitch black caves. Part of their argument was that they painted animals that were not hunted for food, and there were also many cave paintings found depicting geometric designs.

It seems to me that the paintings were much do deep in some of the caves that no one would crawl in there just to draw graffiti, cuz no one else would see it anyway.

I read that a while ago, it's pretty interesting and entirely plausable.

I think there's a vital ingredient missing here...evidence. Without that it's just speculation.

No, because we don't really know whether it was meant as vandalism or art. It could be either. And as all the cave-artists being teenage boys? Well, what else do you really expect--people lived much shorter lives back then, and if the rest of history is any indication, all the women probably did was crap out babies so it's unlikely they'd have done any cave art.

I can see some caveboys getting ready to do a macho hunting gig while high on some new drug trying to do some sympathetic magic to make their lives easier.

I always thought it would be kids. Maybe bored, artistic housewives even. I can't imagine some spiritual leader wasting his time drawing pictures of buffalo.

But as you probably said that thing about crapping out babies just to invoke a response., i'd just like to enquire what 'if the rest of history is any indication' means. What history, per say?

I see "Jedi Armour" painted all over the streets. Those gangs of testosterone-fuelled youngsters, dressed as Obiwan sitting in caves these days are absurd!

No, I prefer the theory about the shamans, about the power of images, the magical symbolism and such and such. True or not, it appeals to me much more.
