While I'm generally against More laws, this is one I would vote for!

It's illegal here in Columbia (ever see that X-Files episode where the neighbors get killed for having *gasp* a beige house instead of a tan one? Yeah, that's COlumbia!), but I think it's a silly law

That's stupid. They add character to bus journeys and daily life in general.

Jeez, who cares? People need to get over themselves and find some real problems to worry about. Homelessness? Crime? Poverty? Starvation? AIDS? No big deal. But neighbors with Christmas lights still up in March?! Call the authorities!

As much as it annoys me, this one is useless.

No, that's dumb. Sure, it's annoying to see Christmas lights up in February, but it should remain the choice of the homeowner. It's their house.

I think there should be one that says that Christmas lights must be down by January 31st or people will be faced with a small fine.

Lots of people around here have their Christmas wreaths and lights up in August, it's nothing uncommon, for sure. It's lazy and annoying, but other things need focused upon.

Yes, that's just what we need to do. Waste taxes passing new, incredibly stupid laws.

They are supposed to be pretty and all that. So what's the problem? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And they'll not be there year round most likely, and if they are... so what?

Legislation against decoration? I don't think so (although it would make a good protest rally chant).

There's this old folk's home that I pass almost everyday. They put Christmas lights up on Christmas 2004...they haven't come down since.

No. It may be annoying some people when neighbors keep their christmas lights up, but it's not hurting anyone!

Why does this irritate people? If someone wants to put Christmas lights up, they can put Christmas lights up. Why the hell do you care?

Well... they're not necessarily Christmas lights year-round. New Years lights. Fourth of July lights (er.. noiseless substitute for a fireworks display, obviously). This is an instance where laziness should be combatted with more laziness.

I don't care if people leave their lights *up* all year, it saves having to put them up again next year. It's the houses that keep turning them on everyday, all year long. There's a house down the street from me, I can see it right now who has their lights turned on! It's June, shut them off!
