Unexpected and too much for me to ever elaborate.

Unexpected, I guess. My grandfather died of cancer, but I was really young at the time, so I didn't realize then that cancer kills. My boss killed himself, and I was at work the night he did it, so I knew he was trying to, but I expected we'd be able to find him and stop it. I was wrong. Those are the only two people I can think.

I have never had to deal with any deaths, except for 3 of my cats dying, which were all unexpected. I am extremely lucky.

I think it’s pretty much evenly spread.

Both equally. Family members that were really ill and friends that died in accidents and such. Im not affected by loseing people that much. I dont know why but I just dont get emotional, maybe because its a part of life that cant be avoided.

More expected, definately. Unexpected usually hits me harder, with all the shock. I still remember when I was 15 I found out a bunch of lads I knew had crashed their cars, and all of them died. I was so shocked I couldn't breath.

My 4 grandparents and a great-aunt were all expected. I'm going to go ahead and call my 50-year-old uncle's 5 month decline with pancreatic cancer unexpected because it was awfully quick. 2 other unexpected deaths: a drowning and a fire. 4-3, expected. There are other deaths, but none so close they really required my "dealing with" them.

I can only remember two deaths. One was my gran when I was 6, but I can't remember that much, so I don't really know why she died. My grandad died about a month ago, and it was unexpected, because he collapsed of a heart attack whilst in the toilet. God, it was a shock for my gran (the living one) when she found him...

Definitely expected. Once when my friend's surgical implant got blocked, causing too much pressure in his head (the implant drained fluid from his brain since his body had no way of doing it by itself), and the other death I've experienced was when my cat got hit by a car (he survived), but he had spinal damage and couldn't walk properly and also his bladder and bowels weren't working right after the accident, so we had to put him down.

well i haven't dealt with many. but for the most part they were expected. i didn't know my dad so i didn't care much, eh. but my grandma was old and her kidneys were shutting down. and my uncle had a tumor and wasn't expected to live till 16, he died at 40 something. but still. and i had a cat that died unexpectedly in front of my eyes because the vet wasn't open. his kidnesy shut down on him. :[

Are not all deaths unexpected? I mean, even if you know someone is sick, it's not like you know the exact date and time they are going to die. It's still a shock when they finally do kick it.

A little of both: old age, cancer, car accidents and suicides. It's hard to count them all up, but I would say unexpected.
