"Grants for safe and drug-free schools, vocational education and reading programs for jailed young people are among 141 federal programs President Bush wants to eliminate or cut significantly."

Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of No Child Left Behind?

Is this asking if I agree with the programs, or if I agree with them being chosen to be cut?

The latter

NASA got increased funding, Homeland Security increased by some 20B, the military got increased funding, it's nothing new.

do you mean "do you agree with Bush cutting the 141 programs", or "do you agree with the programs themselves"? its kind of ambiguous

I hate that we spend money on war yet want to cut all kinds of educational programs. And by we, I am not including myself. The only presidents during my lifetime (and school years) were Clinton and Bush. Bush is by far the worse of the two when it comes to education. We have lost out on so much. Vocational schools are very important here. I can't believe he wants to cut them.

Well, I agree with you in that regard, some things like that are really pointless.

However, I don't agree with Bush cutting education to fund a war that no one supports. Where will that leave the school-aged generation 20 years from now?

15 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Friday 4/27/07 - 8:16:29 PM EST (GMT-5)
I don't agree with anything he does.

The ones listed, which probably are the most valuable ones due to the obvious agenda of this question, didn't seem that necessary.

Throwing money at schools isn't going to keep them drug free, and we shouldn't waste money educating criminals when we could be funding the education of law abiding citizens.

You people want lower taxes, but you can't accept any of the cuts that go with it? This is abseloutely a good decision IMO.

(I know, I know, we could do without the war in Iraq, but these spending cuts are certainly better than nothing.)

15 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Monday 4/30/07 - 8:19:17 PM EST (GMT-5)
No. Why keep schools safe and drug free?
15 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Wednesday 6/6/07 - 11:13:10 PM EST (GMT-5)
Don't care about American politics, unless it gets them to stop complaining about how bad thier government is.

I disagree with his ideas.

He is such a bastard that guy!
