Mel Gibson has kind of made up his own religion, but yes it's based on Catholicism I think. He built his own church on his property and I believe he's the minister of it.

Neither are "fanatical religious nuts" they just believe in their respective religions.

If you ever read into scientology, you'll realize how it's more of a cult than a belief system. They're not even allowed to have kids if they work for the church (although they're more lenient on celebrities) they also have to sign a billion-year contract. It's crazy.

I agree that the beliefs of Scientologists are kind of wacky, but so are the beliefs of any religion. It depends on the way you look at it.

It is close, but I would say Cruise. Gibson has never gone on a rampage while on a talkshow. Plus, Gibson was born into his faith, someone actually convenvenced the adult Tom Cruise that we were all the souls of dead aliens that came to Earth, died, and took over the bodies of the Primates called Humans!

Gibson follows a small sect of Catholicism, Who believes everything the Catholic Church did as the Vactican II and everythign sence then has been evil.

I agree. The basics of Scientology sound okay, but the details are strange. (But that doesn't really differ from most religions.)

Yeah, because the IRS is really the authority I turn to when it comes to religious truth.

Gibson is not the minister of his own church. He has a chapel on his property. He occasionally brings in a priest to say Latin Mass there...
