Singing voices? Voice, maybe not. Certainly style though. But I'd say that within most genre's, there are lots and lots of different voices.

Some singers are much better when they sing the same type of genre, so yes.

Definitely. I'm a light soprano, which means that if I try to sing rock, I sound like an idiot. You can't get Norah Jones to sing an aria, nor can you get Lesley Garrett to sing R'n'B.

^^I'm a soprano but I can go pretty deep, too. Yeah, definately.

Mmmm, yeah. It sucks, because I'm still trying to get used to the fact that the genres I sing best aren't my favorites.

Yeah. Some singers couldn't be metal screamers, for instance. But people like Chester from Linkin Park are good at screaming and normal singing

Iron Maiden's voice would suck if he'd be in pop or classical. Stupendous in metal, though.

I would agree with that, although skill and talent play a factor too.

Absolutly! Ones who sing hard rock probably couldn't make it in opera and vice-versa. And the ones that have no singing voice at all, well, that's what rap is for.

Amy Lee shouldn't do rock or whatever you want to call it.

Yes. Some people are more cut out for country or metal or some bizarre yet-unknown genre, and would sound silly otherwise.

Yes! Devin Townsend has, IMO, a perfect vocie for metal: A strong and powerful singing voice, a harsh scream, and some really high screeches when he needs them. Fu*ken perfect.
