Right away. When my father died, I found out like 5 hours later...the police were looking for my mum and she was running around at work and thendoing a whole bunch of other errands...it took them so long to find her.
I met a ldy who's aunt I was looking after (she was dying) who only wanted to be called after 8am if the aunt died. But she'd already lost two sons and a brother that year (and we were only up to April)...so she was a bit of a mess, and didn't want to deal with much more death. I felt terrible for her.

I'd want to know right away if they didn't die in an accident, so I could get up and see them. If they die... depending on how close they are, I might choose to sleep and deal with it then.
16 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Wednesday 1/11/06 - 11:17:56 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'd want to know right away, because despite the fact that it would be easier to deal with it in the morning, i'd feel horrible knowing that i slept for 5 peaceful hours while my friend was in the hospital or dead.

If something happened to them I would know. You know when you just know that something's wrong and it bothers you? It would be like that and I wouldn't be able to sleep because I would be worrying about what it is. I would want to know right away.

RIGHT away, depending on the person. I'd want to experience it fully and maybe cry a little.

well my dad died in the middle of the night but we didn't find him until we all got up BUT i would want to know right away, in fact it doesn't matter WHEN you find out about it whether it be in the middle of the night or the next morning, it will still be VERY hard to deal with it but the sooner the better

My husband and I were staying with my Dad because my Step-Mum was in Hospital and he got the phone call at 2am last MOnday morning to say she'd passed away. My Dad wasn't going to ring her daughter or my brother until the morning but I told him he'd have to, even though it was such tragic news!
