I'd go with no, but I'm not dumb enough to think that they don't even try.

I think the government uses "for my protection" as an excuse to do things that have nothing to do with my protection.. Do I think the government protects me? Yes. Do I think it does everything it can do? No.

they try to make you feel protected by sticking about 50 armed policemen at the trainstation. doesn't really work.

I think most police men are more concerned about how many tickets they can give out rather than my protection. I pretty much feel protected by my government, but I wouldn't say that I trust them, because I most definitley do not.

Theres always room for improvement, but I think they're doing a pretty good job as I usually feel safe.

I think our government is doing every thing it can to protect itself. I know exactly when they will issue another warning concerning some “ terrorist thread” (and announce protective measures): two days after one of the Secretaries of State messed up, again. This diverts the public's attention to other matters.

OF course. Our cute little color coded terror alert system is flawless, as have been all of Uncle George's grand schemes since 9-11.

I don't think it is, but if it was my freedom would be destroyed. Theres a limit to how far a Government should go before it starts to destroy libery, a lot of western governments are crossing the line, we can handle ourselves more then they seem to think

I often get the feeling that my own government, be it conservative or social democratic does FAR TOO MUCH to protect me, mostly from myself and my own decicions.

Pffft... America's Healthcare... we have no health insurance, my husband is losing his job of 21 years next week, so I called all sorts of agencies to see about getting help with my monthly meds ($400.00 a month)... I was basically told that A) I'm not old enough or disabled enough to qualify for Medicaid/Medicare, B) since unemployment will be coming in, I dont qualify for any other programs UNLESS we are on welfare C) nor do I qualify for any program that help those with chronic diseases because my disease has not left me 'disabled' (meaning crippled or wheelchair bound) and D) no health insurance company will cover me because my chronic yet not disabling disease puts me in a 'high risk' category...

most of the time but the thing is, is that they catch all the small stupid things and then when it comes to to catch the big things from other people they never get them for it.
