Probably...in a way. Seems like Japanese/Korean cars resemble their German competition more and more. I see it being more like how a Honda is like a ghetto street car, Hyundai will be a ghetto luxury car. Still not the real thing, unless German car manufacturers slip but I don't see that happening. Hyundai has just really improved the quality of their cars to where they're worth it.

"unless German car manufacturers slip but I don't see that happening." Already happened. Can you say Mercedes? The new Amanti is a VERY worthwile car. It isn't going to do 0-60 in 5 seconds, but it has many things standard that can only be purchased as options on cars such as BMW and Jaguar.

Not likely. My Kia blew 3 rods at 101,000 miles. It was a piece of crap from the beginning. My American made Dodge Van has 181,500 and still going strong. The Kia (Killed In Action) was only 3 years old, my van is 7. Luxury? No way. Unless 1/2 inch padding in the seatbacks is standard in luxury cars.

True that slappy, mercedes is the slip up of the German brands. And no, Kia sucks and will always be a disposable car.

They will never be luxury, but they might very well join the ranks of mid level American and Japanese cars in terms of prestige, quality, and reliability.

Probably not! Hyundais are slightly nicer than Kias, but if I see another Hyundai excel on the road I'll cry! They're extremely tin-canish and sound like a lawnmower powering down the road. I'm also a bit biased, a sh*tty excel hit me doing 100km/h and wrote my car off :(

I find it hared to believe that the Kia sh*tage, I mean Sportage, would ever become a luxury vehicle.
