I don't think spouses have to tell each other literally EVERYTHING, but they shouldn't purposely be keeping secrets from each other that would make the other person feel betrayed.

I think it's the other way around: People should not get married when they are not *freely* willing to share their secrets. Seek the differences in these two:
- You marry because you trust eachother.
- You must trust eachother because you are married. |

I don 't think it's necessary to tell your spouse EVERYTHING. You are an individual as well as a partner, and I see nothing wrong with choosing to keep certain things to yourself. Like, if a woman at work hits on me, what possible good could come from telling my wife? She doesn't need to know.
