I think it's ridiculous. What if the teacher had sent a black girl home for wearing her naturally curly hair straight? Rules like that should apply equally to all races.

That is such crap. It's amazing how people want equality but they cry like someone pissed in their cheerios as soon as someone else asks for a little bit of equality.

This really makes me mad....in fact, so mad, I'm not even going to start talking about it, for fear of really pissing people off.

It is discriminatory and she should be permitted to wear it. But let's be really honest...it looks awful on white girls, they can't carry it off. Whereas it looks fantastic on African girls. This is just a fact of life. White girls shouldn't cornrow.

Ya know that is crap. Its freakin hair. Who gives a crap. Its on your head. Who cares how you style it. I mean thats like saying black people arent aloud to sing Country because it was American song type first or something.

It does sound like discrimination, but I think cornrows look better on blacks than whites.

Its the same as saying black people are not allowed to relax their hair if they want to.

I personally find cornrows quite unattractive, but see no reason to forbid anyone from wearing them regardless of their race...

It's racial discrimination -- the school won't win it's case based upon the fact that some other female students are allowed to wear them. They either have to allow everybody, or nobody.

Personally, I think just being seen in public with that awful hairdo is punishment enough for the girl! But that's just me.

I also think it is racial discrimmination. We all borrow in some ways things from other cultures. That's why we are who we are today. Why not let whites have cornrows? Hair is hair, and you can wear your hair any style you want and it won't make a difference. The school will get drubbed in court, and it should be.
